Front Desk: Monday-Thursday 9am-3pm; assist signing individuals in and out and direct them where they need to go by connecting them to the right person.(Shifts available: Monday-Thursday 9am-12pm and 12pm-3pm)
Food Pantry: Assist members with shopping for items in the pantry; following food safety protocols, sort, label, organize and display incoming donations. (Shifts available: Monday-Thursday 10am-1pm and 1pm-4pm)
Food Pick-up: We have food pick-up appointments at Second Harvest Food Bank on Wednesday and Friday mornings, and at Panera Bread pickup on Monday evenings at 8:45 pm. We can always use more volunteers who can pick-up food and deliver to our pantry, and put away the perishable items into the fridge/freezer. (Shifts available: Mon evening, Wed & Fri mornings)
Provide a Meal: Prepare/provide a meal for our GED students lunch (Monday-Thursday @ 12pm) or for our weekly LiftUp Lift Skills class (most Thursdays @ 5:30pm)
Tutoring: Tutors are needed to assist students in our education program with Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, Science (Shifts available: Monday-Thursday; 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm)
Career Coach: Asisst youth with career/skill assessment, applying to college, trade/certification programs and financial aid, resume building, creating plans to advance out of entry level positions, helping youth understand skills and responsibilities needed to work a full-time job, and provide resources for youth to make connections with community agencies and employers. (Shifts available: Monday-Thursday between 10am-4pm; 2-5 hours depending upon your availability)
Career Source Expert: Coordinate with Career Resources to help connect our members to jobs; build relationships with local employers (Shifts available are flexible depending upon your schedule)
One-on-One Mentoring: A mentor can produce positive impacts on almost every aspect of a young person’s life – education, mental health and wellbeing, development of a healthy identity and sense of belonging, positive engagement in the community, and successful transition into higher education and career paths. Our mentors are asked to meet with their mentee in person 1x/month and connect by text/phone/email weekly. (Specific schedule is decided upon jointly by the mentor & mentee).
Administrative & General Support: Assistance needed tracking/charting volunteers, mentors, donations, activities, and food services. (Shifts available: Mon-Fri on site; at home any day/time you choose!)
Special Events: Asssit with tabletop events at community fairs, festivals and fundraisers, representing WAYS for Life and sharing what we do with the community. (Shifts are typically 2-4 hours, days and times will vary)
Public Transportation Coach: Assist members one on one with learning how to navigate the public transportation system, and walking them through routes in-person and help them gain confidence.
LiftUp Life Skills Program Volunteer/Teacher: Join a team to teach life skills to youth in our LiftUp program; assist with setup/breakdown, helping members to engage in class, or sponsor/provide a meal. (Shifts available: 5:30-7:30pm most Thursdays).
